Intel Announces Z550 and Z515 Atom Processors

Rumours about Intel launching a new Atom processor have finally been confirmed; the company officially announced two new processors at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Beijing. The new launches are the Atom Z550 and the Z515 respectively.

The announcements were made by Anand Chandrasekher, senior VP and BM of the Ultra Mobility Group in his keynote address. While the Atom Z550 clocks at 2GHz with Hyperthreading support and a power consumption of less than three watts, the Atom Z515 uses Burst Performance Technology to run at 1.2GHz and much lower power consumption.

Pricing and availability details of the new processors are yet to be released.
