GIGABYTE Technology, one of the biggest manufacturers of motherboards and graphics cards today announced their newest motherboard series designed for the new Intel Sandy Bridge processors. Featuring several innovative features, these next generation motherboards are all based on Intel P67 and H67 Express Chipsets.

Dubbed the 6-series motherboards, the new boards feature dual channel DDR3 memory with clocks of 2200MHz and more, ideal for the turbo-charged speeds of Intel’s 2nd generation Core CPUs. Using the new Voltage Regulator Down specification (VRD 12) from Intel and the Intel qualified Intersil PWM controllers, GIGABYTE has designed a board that is not just robust but also highly energy efficient in its every process.

The 6-series mainboards have been equipped with GIGABYTE’s proprietary Dual CPU Power technology that splits the CPU VRM power phases into two sets of power engines. Operating in tandem, the technology lets one power phase do the work while the other is resting and vice versa. This effectively halves the strain on each power phase, thereby extending motherboard durability and reliability.

This unique CPU power design, combined with 24 phase power and the Power Phase Boost with Mutli-gear Switching make the new motherboards as good as extreme model boards even though they are positioned as mainstream models. To further boost board stability and durability, GIGABYTE has added its DualBIOS technology to the boards. This patented technology automatically restores BIOS data from the backup in case the main BIOS has crashed.

The new version of DualBIOS allows users to boot their systems from HDDs that are 3TB or more without partitioning them. The inclusion of GIGABYTE’s EasyTune6 overclocking utility on the motherboards means users can easily use these boards to unlock the full power of their CPU on the fly from within the operating system.

The new 6-series motherboards are equally big entertainment powerhouses. Integrated support of the new Intel HD Graphics 2000/3000 allow users to experience immersive 3D gaming, and edit or convert videos and photos quickly and efficiently. For data storage, GIGABYTE has gone with up to 10 USB 3.0 ports on the P67A-UD7 and up to 10x USB 2.0 ports on the other boards. There is also a SATA 6Gbps interface, which when combined with the GIGABYTE XHD Technology, delivers a performance boost that is four times that of SATA 3Gbps.

Right from the day of launch, GIGABYTE is making available as many as ten ATX models and seven micro-ATX models under its 6-series motherboards. The nomenclature for these new boards is the standard one used by GIGABYTE, starting with P67A-UD7 for the highest model and then coming down to HD67M-D2 for the lowest. Then there are also 3 models for the SMB segment that have been named the B65M-D2, B65M-UD2, and the Q67M-S2H. The manufacturer will be coming up with more models later in the year to reach around 40 socket 1155 models by mid 2011.
