EVGA Classified 4X SLI
EVGA Classified 4X SLIEVGA have today announced their new high end X58 motherboard. Hot on the tail of the popular Classified 3X SLI, this board packs even more features into a slightly larger package. This motherboard is based on the XL-ATX form factor, which is 13.5 inches long and 10.3 inches wide, rather than the 12 inches by 9.6 inches of a standard ATX motherboard. EVGA say that the board will require a case with 9 expansion slots, and 10 for Quad SLI. "Modifications may be required for a correct fit in some chassis'" No jokes here!
As we can see, there are no legacy PCI slots, or even PCI express x1 slots. The colour scheme is the same and the cooling and layout are very much similiar too. Connectivity remains untouched too with the same PS2, 12 USB, 2 Firewire, 2 LAN, 8 Channel HD Audio, 9 SATA II ports and an IDE slot. It still supports up to 24GB of triple channel DDR3 at speeds of 1600MHz.
As you might be able to see, the board still requires dual 8pin EPS connectors to provide power when overclocking. The usual handy features such as debug leds and onboard power and clear CMOS buttons are still here too.
This is clearly designed for the extreme overclockers and nobody else, as shown in the price tag. We thought the price for the 3x SLI was insane, but this is even higher. Available for pre order now at $449.99, $50 more than it's not so little brother. This should mean prices of around £350 when it makes it to the UK market.
