Asus today unveiled its new motherboard design in the form of the ASUS Protect 3.0; based on Xtreme Design, the motherboard boasts of the lowest electromagnetic radiation standards in the industry. The new design brings multiple industry firsts and sets the benchmark in radiation standards as well as environmental friendliness.
The new ASUS Protect 3.0 Design is equipped with intelligent anti-radiation shielding, which brings down the generation and transmission of harmful radiation from the motherboard by as much as 50%. The design uses special low-radiation components as well as a Low Radiation Circuit Design that significantly reduces electromagnetic radiation. The design positions electrical components in such a manner that oppositely-charged flows are across each other so that the fields generated are cancelled out.
This is clubbed with a Radiation Moat Design that ensures there is no radiation leakage to the surrounding components. All of these innovations allow ASUS motherboards to claim the title of the lowest electromagnetic radiation generators in the industry. Lower electromagnetic radiation means the motherboards are that much more eco-friendly, while their adverse impact on the health of users is also significantly reduced.
In addition to the anti-radiation shielding, ASUS has also developed an Anti-Surge Design that automatically detects over- or under-voltage conditions in the motherboard components and stops any electrical surges from spreading across the board. It does this by shutting off the electrical supply to the motherboard for the period the power surge exists. The motherboards are also extremely energy efficient due to the built-in ASUS Energy Processing Unit (EPU) chip, which reduces power consumption by nearly 80.23%.
According to ASUS, its EPU-enabled motherboards are so energy and emission efficient that 10 million such boards can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 207,430 tons, a figure equal to Australia’s annual carbon emissions. In that sense, the new motherboard design from ASUS is definitely a highly green one.
