ASUS Preparing Micro ATX P55
"ASUS are planning to add a micro ATX motherboard to their P55 range."
ASUS are planning to add a Micro ATX P55 motherboard to their existing range, aimed more at the mainstream market. They welcomed the Lynnfield processors earlier in September with a total of 6 motherboards, although they currently only have the Maximus III Gene in the Micro ATX form factor, which is an high end motherboard, priced to match. This board, dubbed the P7P55-M by many, will be part of the P7P55D series of motherboards, supporting Intel's Core i5/i7 processors based on the Lynnfield core. It only has a single PCI express x16 slot, the main differentiating factor between itself and the Maximus III Gene.
It does however, retain the same black PCB and blue heatsinks and connectors that continues throughout the range. It also still features ASUS' TurboV overclocking and the built in ExpressGate operating system. Whilst not yet officially confirmed by ASUS, it is very likely to be on shelves soon, priced on the good side of the £100 mark.
