AMD will soon be unveiling its new high-end 890GX IGP chipset; according to reports, the launch should take place next month. The CPU and GPU maker will follow up this release with the launch of its 880G and 890FX chipsets towards the end of April.

The 890GX chipset features an integrated GPU that supports both DirectX 10.1 and UVD2. In combination with AMD’s new SB850 Southbridge, the new product is expected to replace AMD’s existing 790GX/SB750 combination.

OEM partners have already signed up for the new board and manufacturers including Asustek Computers, Gigabyte Technologies, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), and Biostar Microtech International are all expected to introduce their products based on the new chipset at just about the same time.

Asustek has already started accepting pre-orders for its M4A89GTD Pro/USB3 and M4A89GTD Pro motherboards in Europe. Both these boards are based on the 890GX, with the first board supporting USB 3.0. Motherboards for the other two chipsets – 880G and 890FX are expected to be introduced sometime in May.

I think for them to really catch up in the game they need to take some risks and hope they work. Also, I JUST LOST THE GAME.
