AMD Confirms Five New Phenom II Processors

AMD Press ReleaseAMD have extended the lifespan of its Dragon platform by announcing five new Phenom II processors. Three of these new processors will be the Phenom II X4 Quad-cores, whilst the other two are the industries first 45nm triple-cores, the Phenom II X3s.

Compatible with both AM2+ and AM3 socket motherboards, and both DDR2 and DDR3, continuing to enhance the value of the AMD Dragon platform to OEM partners and the home build enthusiasts.

Providing a large boost over the previous Phenom processors, these new Phenom IIs deliver a fantastic experience at a mainstream price point. This helps eliminate the substantial cost involved in competing platforms which are forcing users to upgrade to DDR3.

Leslie Sobon, Vice President of product marketing for AMD said :

“Whether buying a new desktop PC or upgrading components in an existing system, AMD recognises consumers are looking for value more than ever before. With the combination of the infrastructure compatibility and the introduction of the AMD Phenom II triple-core processors, AMD has made two very strategic design decisions that our competitor cannot duplicate at the component or platform level.”

Those five new chips are :

* AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X4 910 – (2.6GHz)
* AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X4 810 – (2.6GHz)
* AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X4 805 – (2.5GHz)
* AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X3 720 Black Edition – (2.8GHz)
* AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X3 710 – (2.6GHz)

The new Phenom IIs are available immediately.
