Antec Adds Two Chassis to Performance One Series

Antec has officially launched its P183 and P193 chassis as part of its Performance One series. While the units have been talked about for quite some time, the official launching was done on Tuesday.

Antec has retained the dual-chamber innards and other design features of its highly popular P182 and P180 chassis in the P183. The new chassis measures 54cm x 20.5cm x 50.7cm, weighs 14kg and offers seven expansion slots and 11 drive bays. These include four external 5.25in bays, an external 3.5in bay and six internal 2.5in bays.

Almost look-alikes, the major point of difference between the P182 and the P183 is that the latter offers only two fans as standard instead of the lower-front chamber, upper-front chamber and middle chamber fans in the former. With the exception of a 120mm fan at the rear and a 120mm rear up top, all other fans are now optional extras. To compensate for these, the chassis’ vents have been widened and additional vents provided on the front door to improve airflow.

Changes have also been made to the chassis air filters, while the mount for the optional lower-chamber fan has been moved next to the hard drive cage. This opens up space for installation of longer PSUs. A front-mounted eSATA port and additional support for Antec’s CP-series power supplies has also been added to the P183.

The P183 and P193 units are expected to retail at £125.81 and £146.83 respectively.

The P180/P182 is still much nicer in my eyes.

Hmm, having just bought a P182 I am wondering if I should have waited to see if the price went down due to this new release >_<
