Microsoft giving away Galileo Boards to aspiring Developers

Reach to the Stars with the help of Microsoft

Microsoft want to bring Windows to a whole new class of small devices, whether it is a smart coffee mug, a robot, or anything else you could even think of. To help this happen Microsoft are giving away Intel Galileo development boards to software developers of all ages, skill or experience levels, and what do you need to do to to get one of these coveted boards? Simply sign up and cross your fingers.

Don't think that you have no chance of success here, several of our forum members have already reported that they will be receiving units form Microsoft, I look forward to seeing what they can produce with these boards.

Microsoft giving away Galileo Boards to aspiring Developers  Microsoft giving away Galileo Boards to aspiring Developers

Intel's Galileo and its clever little Quark processor which is essentially aimed directly at the rivaling Raspberry Pi, but it has one main difference, it's x86 CPU, which could be one reason why Microsoft is interested in getting these out there given how unsuccessful Windows RT was.

Full specs of the Intel Galileo Development Board are available here, and to sign up for your chance to get one of these coveted development kits Here.

What we at OC3D want to know is if you get a kit what will you do with it! Please post your thoughts and ideas in the OC3D Forums

I signed up and within 5 minutes I got a confirmation-email they would contact me when it would be shipped

Specs:

Might be interesting for developers or people who just want free loot. (I'm with both)Quote

I should iterate I wasn't being serious when I said that. Sorry.

I will probably use it in a new build as some form of control or another, fans, automated door, vents... who knows, the possibilities are endless.Quote

It was first come first served, a link won't help any more (just checked), they simply have stopped issuing the units.Quote

You're lucky!

I got this email, which is basically saying that if you didn't get the tracking info or a message that a kit was allocated to you, you are not going to get it.
I didnt get an email with tracking info or kit allocation so im not getting tit

Quote:
While we are continuing our program, we have finished allocating all the Intel Galileo boards that we purchased. If you were allocated a kit then you should have received either a tracking number or an email saying a kit was allocated to you. If you haven’t received either of those two emails you will still be able to participate in the Windows Developer Program for IoT using a retail board.
