Asus are not back in the office till Tue or Wed now Ill ask for you dude see if its a common problem.

Does it see 4g @ 1.5v?

No go at 1.5v, the funny thing is that it did work for a bit, then with the same settings doesn't. i think it is defiantly a bios problem though. I want to try an older version of bios but I don't want to loose the Raid, on the bios revision that you had loaded on, it lost the raid array when I reset the bios to default settings, even when I set the sata settings to raid enabled, etc.

Looking on the internet it seems I am the only one with this particular problem, everyone else has managed to fix the problem with the uncore settings.

It will loose the settings on an upgrade, you just have to turn it all back on again dude, all the data and the raid will be there once its all re-enabled.

Thats the thing, when I updated the bios to 1308 it was fine, enable raid and it finds it. But when I reset to default values on the old bios, after changing the setting back to raid it couldn't see it. I had to leave it unplugged for a while and restarted it about 10 times to find the raid.
Thats why I'm reluctant in trying an older bios again as it may not find the raid array at all.

I bet your all confused, I am aswell. It doesn't make sense, hence why there must be some sort of bios bug or incompatibility issue.

Just found a forum post that appears to be that same issue that I am having. :) At least I am not on my own.

http://forum.novatech.co.uk/showthread.php?t=15892

I am having some issues with a P55 motherboard this morning that I want to reach out to our community about and see if you guys have any ideas what is afoot here.

The problem is this. I have installed 4GB of RAM (2x2GB), but the OS only sees "1.99 GB Usable." I have used both Core i5 and Core i7 processors in this ASUS Maximus III Gene motherboard as well as confirmed this issue with Corsair, Patriot, and OCZ memory modules. The problem however is not static. It has "gone away" once when changing out the processor, but then returned when switching out RAM modules. The original thought was that the DIMMs were not seating well, but I have gone as far to put a 5lbs. weight on top of the DIMMs. I am using an v7600 Windows 7 64-bit OS. I have tried turning off Superfetch services as well as disabling remapping the memory in the BIOS.

Image is HERE.

As you can see in the screenshot above, 1.99 GB is marked as usable and the Task Manager verifies that total usable. Trying to force more will "lock up" an application. But do notice that CPUZ does see the full 4GB. When the system POSTs however, it only shows as having "2048MB" installed.

I have found one more instance of this on THG forums using a GIGABYTE P55-UD4 motherboard so it does not seem to be an ASUS-only issue. If you have any ideas, please sound off in this HardForum thread. Hopefully I am just overlooking something simple.

Edit: Our solution to the issue.

Sounds kind of crazy, but we have verified that testing here today. If you did not see our post earlier, we had an ASUS P55 system that was "losing" half of its installed RAM. After about 7 hours of testing here today, we finally have verified what the issue is. It seems that I was tightening the water block down too tight on the P55 chipset motherboard. Simply loosening the water block solved the issue and allowed all the RAM to be seen. I am also currently testing a P55 chipset board from DFI. I was able to replicate the issue on that motherboard as well.

I have to admit to NOT using the tensioning springs as shown below. Koolance water blocks specify that these mounting springs be used and I was ignoring that, obviously the springs are there for more than just one reason.

UPDATE: loosened the water block and tightened it as loose as I would like temps are fine at stock. The ram problem still exists.

The socket is a Foxconn :( , this may be the problem.

After loosening the block, I got a bios recover message on startup and windows did a memory check. All went ok. I then went back into the bios and guess what in auto, the turbo mode settings are back again. :) so the cpu in stock config clocks itself up to 3.5ghz :).

So that is some thing positive. As with the other chap in the linked thread above, there seems to be a problem with the socket pins of the mobo. This may the the reason why the bios is acting all funny, loosing raid, only seeing 2gb, turbo not working, but now the turbo is.

Just spoke to Clock on the phone and CPUZ is reading 4gb all the time, its windows 'system' in control panel not seeing it. So all in all its working fine and there is a bug with the bios and windows system - nothing new there then!

LOL panic over

Haha, thanks.

Aries is a beast. The powder coating that Tom (TTL) has done is top notch, very good quality and looks to be very hard wearing compared to a spray can job. :)

I cannot describe how nice the cut side window looks, it is so cleanly cut are nicely arranged. Really like the design. The mars is huge, its like a brick in the middle of the pc, can't wait to game on it. The water block keeps it really cool, well done bitspower. Atm the MArs is idling at 33 and 35c each core. :) And cpu bouncing between 15 and 23c :).

This pc is like WOW!!!
