Ryse: Son of Rome coming to PC!

XBOX Exclusive?

Ryse: Son of Rome coming to PC!

Another Xbox One exclusive is coming to PC

The Xbox One launched last fall with Crytek's Ryse: Son of Rome, a third person action game intended to be the first visual showcase of the next, now current, generation of console hardware. Now approaching a year after the games original launch Crytek with Co-publishing with Deep Silver, who recently took over development of Homefront 2, will be bringing this game to PC.

This makes Ryse: Son of Rome the second Xbox One launch title and former exclusive to be brought to PC, the first being Dead Rising 3, developed by Capcom. This does not mean that all exclusives will see a later release on PC (Sorry Halo Fans), but it does suggest that it is relatively easy to port these titles over, which is due in part to the similarity in modern PC and console hardware architectures.

Ryse: Son of Rome coming to PC!

As for the Ryse PC port itself, it will include the original game and all downloadable extras from the console release. The PC version will of-course support higher resolutions; 4K, 1440p etc according to a press release quote from Crytek director of business of development Carl Jones.

This is actually good to see, I say that as this means we will hopefully get more ports from the new consoles and because architecture wise they are close to PC's, So they should perform well Quote

Will keep an eye on this and see what the PC version of Ryse is like.

As for the Halo comments, I am getting the Master Chief Collection on the Xbox One, but if they bring it out for the PC as well I will grab it on there as well.Quote

I doubt Crytek were stupid enough to make animations etc depend on the framerate, at lest I hope not.

Might buy it if it is cheap, a high fidelity power fantasy game sounds alright.

I wonder if it will be one of the first Crytek Games with mantle supportQuote

Animations must be dependent on frame rate otherwise they would slow down/speed up if the FPS fluctuates. I'm assuming you mean locking the animations at 30FPS causing them to stutter at higher FPS?Quote

Ha yeah that is prime example of when they don't account for the frame rate Quote

I see this as Crytek realizing it's not going to sell enough on the xBone alone.

Dead Rising 3 is another that was supposed to be exclusive to the bone aswell but is coming to PC now too. Make one wonder, but I'd say you're probably not going to have too many developers in the future doing bone exclusives. Particularly with statistics like these:

Still, more games coming to PC is always good, can't complain there.Quote

The only good thing it has going for it are the graphics. Hopefully this sets a precedent for future releases.Quote

It's highly repetitive from what I've seen. It lost its appeal very quickly for me, just from watching other people play.Quote

Yeah, its kind of like they made it just to show of the new "next gen" graphics. Gameplay looks to be lacking to much. If the game was cheap I'd probably try it but £30+ I don't think I'm willing to pay it. £20 and I'd consider. Will look lovely in 4K.Quote

Might be good for benchmarking purposes. I'll probably pick it up in a Steam/similar sale.Quote

Crytek need their engine to sell better, if porting this game over can convince a few more devs to use it good for them.

I will likely by this on sale or if it launched very cheap.Quote

Pretty much get in a fight then press the button on screen to kill, next guy, same thing, over and over again. no skill involved tbh. It coiuld have been epic though.

Wonder if people try modding it to make it so no pop up buttons appear? Just make it so more skill is involved.Quote

"Most people would know theres a huge difference between playing at 30 and 60 frames"
An hero is crytek.

Not going to be a great game although I appreciate having a game that'll demand alot from my rig. interactive benchmark and whatnot.Quote

It looks like it will be the next Crysis in terms of demanding, something new to melt your GPUs on

Shame the game itself is pretty crap.Quote

An actual game developer on the Steam forums in the Ryse thread also just confirmed 4GB of VRAM is for 4K so anyone running it under 4K should be fine with 3GB.
