X99 will be upon us very soon, many manufacturers have been showing off their motherboards, DDR4 memory is now available and the specs of the upcoming CPUs are known

MSI have been teasing their motherboards one feature at a time, but now images of their entire XPOWER X99 board have been made available from the Chinese website chipell. Lets have a look.

From what we can see from the box this motherboard will have MSI's typical OC series XPOWER styling. We can also see hat every XPOWER board made will have to pass a "Military Class Burn-in Test", where the board will be forced to run a highly overclocked CPU while water cooled. This means we can rest assured that our motherboards will not be dead on arrival.

From the remaining leaked pictures we can see many things, first is an 8-pin and a 4-pin CPU power inputs, which will allow additional power to be delivered to your CPU for some insane overclocks. I doubt this will help users outside of LN2 or other sub-zero overclocking methods.

At the bottom of the board we can also see a single molex power connection, which should provide extra power to the PCI lanes. Again this extra power only applies to super heavy overclockers using 4 GPUs in their system. We also see two SATA ports here, which is an unusual location to say the least.

Like any good overclocking board there is plenty of voltage check points, overclocking buttons and even a USB connector directly attached to the board (not the back panel).

Simply put the upcoming MSI X99 XPOWER motherboard could be the weapon of choice for the heavy overclockers out there and especially to those who love MSI's yellow lightning colour scheme.

Provided with this board will be a load of accessories, from a heavy duty backplate, extra USB headers, all the SATA cables you could possibly need, driver CDs, stickers and several user manuals.

We at OC3D hope MSI will be letting us have a look at these enthusiast overclocking motherboards in the near future, as we are OC3D afterall. Lets hope Haswell-E can overclock well enough to justify such a heavy duty motherboard.

Any word on pricing for the X99 boards since besides the few Gigabyte gaming ones a while back?

I mean, I know the processor and DDR4 memory is going to cost an arm and a leg, but if I see a reasonably priced X99 board it might nudge me off the fence to an upgrade early next year.Quote

The colour scheme reminds me of Alien 2 Quote

Don't know yet mate, everybody is holding their cards very close to their chests.

ASUS haven't even got images of their boards out yet, which makes me hope they have something epic in store for us. Makes me want to Rampage TBH.Quote

The Asus Deluxe motherboard's features and specifications were accidentally revealed thanks to a leaked manual from Asus' site itself. However, it was quickly removed by most sites at the request of Asus. I agree, most players are holding their cards close to their chests, too close if you ask me. I am banking on TTL to have a review posted as quickly as humanly possible, any time after August 29th. Got all I need for a X99 build except motherboard and proc. Still waiting for Corsair to ship the DDR4 I ordered.Quote

I could be wrong, but the size does seem to me an E-Atx form factor. Your thoughts?Quote
