AMD demos their Ryzen CPUs and Vega GPUs at CES

AMD has already demoed their Ryzen CPUs and Vega GPUs at CES, showcasing Star Wars: Battlefront playing at a constant 4K 60 FPS.

Sadly at this time AMD has not revealed any detailed specifications for their upcoming Vega series of GPUs, though when you look at our Star Wars: Battlefront performance review, you can see that AMD’s R9 Fury X was unable to play this game at a constant 35 FPS at 4K Ultra settings at launch, nevermind a constant 60 FPS.

AMD will be hosting a press event a 2pm GMT on January 5th, which will reveal a lot of new information about AMD’s new Vega GPU architecture. After this event, we will provide our readers with a detailed article on how these design changes will affect game performance and hopefully have a firm launch date for AMD’s upcoming RX 500 series of GPUs.

2017 is going to be a big year for AMD, with the company releasing products to both the CPU and GPU markets which come with radical design changes and promise highly competitive levels of performance. This is a great thing for consumers, as it not only provides consumers with more buying options but gives Intel and Nvidia and incentive to lower their prices and accelerate the development of next-generation products.
